Verse of The Day

“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,” (1 Peter 3:15)

A 90 DAY ADVENTURE

The Holston Conference under the direction of the Witness Ministry Team has challenged every local church to participate in 90 days of reaching out to the lost.  The first 40 days are for every congregation to pray, fast, and ask God to increase their burden for the lost.  This was to begin on February 23.  There are devotions for the 40 days that will be available to you so you may pray more effectively.  The 40 days will be followed by 50 days of evangelism between Easter and Pentecost.

The Conference goal is that 3000 will be baptized on Pentecost.  We know the Great Commission tells us to go into all the world and make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20).  The 50 days are to be a time where we intentionally reach out to the lost in our community.  In a recent survey 8 out of 10 unchurched persons said they would come to church if they were invited.  However, only 2 percent of church members invite an unchurched person to church.  Another result of this survey was that the unchurched would like to develop a real and sincere relationship with a Christian.  Thom S. Rainer who conducted the survey say that, “Nearly 130 million people in the United States alone would come to church if they were invited.  And if the come, many would hear about the Savior who offers the only way of salvation.”

On March 7 at 4:00pm we will have a meeting to discuss how we can reach the lost in our community.  I encourage you to participate in the 40 days of prayer and the intentional activities we will have to bring Christ to those who do not know Him.
